“You will do a good job cleaning up, right?”

At Horch Roofing, we’re often asked what a customer should expect the roofing process to be like, and more specifically- the cleanup process. A single roof consists of many products; including nails, shingles, and underlayment. If not properly prepared for, it would be easy to make a mess during a roofing project. Fortunately, Horch Roofing prides itself in the care we take to leave your home just as we found it; only with a brand new roof! Here are the steps the Horch Roofing team takes to ensure that we leave your home and property clean after we’ve completed your roof.

Protecting your property

Before we ever set foot on your roof, we begin by identifying areas, plants, and features around your home that could be affected by the roofing project. This includes windows, patios, decks, furniture, plants, bushes, yards, and walkways. From here we create a course of action to protect each and every one of these areas so as not to damage anything while we’re working.

Bring out the tarps

After we’ve moved or shielded vulnerable items and areas around your home, we bring out the tarps. Tarps are used to cover large areas on the ground around the perimeter of your home. This works to catch old materials that are removed from your existing roof, as well as any items that may fall from the roof during installation such as nails and shingles. It’s important to note that each member of the Horch Roofing team wears protective equipment including hard hats while on site and that customers should stay safely away from areas where these materials may drop from the roof during the project.

Once the project is complete, it’s cleanup time

After your new roof is finished, our team will clear all remaining materials from top to bottom throughout the project. We will then remove the tarps with all waste materials, return the surrounding features such as covered bushes and windows to their original state, and with a final sweep we will pass over your property with a large magnet that collects any nails that may have missed our tarps. This thorough process allows multiple opportunities for our roofers to scan the area around your home and ensure that everything is in order.
