How Does Horch Roofing Determine The Cost Of A Roof?

Posted on September 10, 2018 · Posted in Roofing Education

When the time comes to have your roof installed, repaired, or replaced, one of the most important concerns as the customer is “what is this going to cost?” At Horch Roofing, we understand that for home and business owners, a roofing project can be a significant life event, which is why we take the time to work with you to thoroughly inspect your roof, walk you through the available options, and create a project plan that works for you.

There are a number of variables that can affect the cost of a roof, and it’s important for us to be transparent and ensure that our customers know what to expect throughout the entire process.

Roof Inspection

Prior to any roofing project, we send an experienced and knowledgeable representative to perform a full inspection of the home or building. This inspection includes taking photos, measuring the roof surface, determining if the roof is tall or short, whether it is easily accessible, and if there is a safe place for ladders and trailers. Each of these factors will affect the overall project and cost.

Identifying Roof Features

We will want to know the features of your roof such as does the roof have a chimney, skylight, unique angles, or multiple valleys? Roofs come in all shapes and sizes and while one roof may be 100 sq. ft. in surface size, another roof the same size may have more peaks, valleys, and features that require additional materials to complete.

Once we have gathered the necessary information and details about your roof, we enter all of the data into our information system to create a scaled drawing which we will use to generate a materials list. Once your specific roofing material is chosen, we combine all of our information in order to present you with a proposed job cost. At Horch Roofing, we provide free estimates to better help our customers make an educated decision about their roofing project.

Choosing Products and Materials

Choosing the materials for your roof can be the most interesting, and sometimes the most challenging part of the process. Today, there are many types of roofing materials that may work for your home, including asphalt shingles, standing-seam metal, and EPDM rubber roofing. Each serves a different purpose, and in Maine, all three are commonly used. Within these types of roofing materials exists a number of styles, colors, and features. We invite you to visit our office in Warren to check out shingle samples, view our metal roofing options and discuss what materials will best suit your needs.
